Metallic Bar



Tutorial is written for Paint Shop Pro 6. The methods used are compatible with Paint Shop Pro 7, 8, 9 and 10.

1 Make a 400 x 50, 16 million colors and white background image.  Set foreground color to black and background color to white.

 

2 Add a new layer (Layers>New Raster Layer)

Pick the Drawing Tool and while holding down the [Shift] key, draw a straight line as shown.

Drawing Tool Settings:
Type = Single Line
Width = 30
Antialias = checked
Create as Vector = NOT checked
Close Path = NOT checked

Under Draw Option Tab , choose the Round cap

Press [CTRL+A] to select all object on your current layer.  Pick the Selection Tool click your mouse once anywhere on your image, you will notice the line becomes your active selection.  Save this selection to Alpha Channel (Selections>Save to Alpha Channel) and name this selection Bar.

 

 

3 Add a new layer (Layers>New Raster Layer)

Change your foreground color to white.

Again, pick the Drawing Tool and while holding down the [Shift] key, draw a white line inside the bar close to the upper edge of the bar (see figure below)

Drawing Tool Settings:
Type = Single Line
Width = 15
Antialias = checked
Create as Vector = NOT checked
Close Path = NOT checked

Under Draw Option Tab , choose the Round cap
